Dec 11, 2014 · I'm Awesome. I am making this thread for my truck and other people that are doing ls swaps in their 96-98 obs. I am doing the swap in my 98 ext cab and wanted to resuse as much of the harness as possible. So I can have the factory looking swap and still keep everything clean. There are some sensors and and components that will require cutting ... I have a stock 5.3, with stock manifolds. I used about 4" of the OE exhaust off the manifold, for the flanges and O2 bungs. The rest is 2.5 pipe, curved pieces from the scrap bin at an exhaust shop, off a 2010 Camaro. The straight sections are from the parts store. Two Dynomax race bullets. I'm planning on swapping a LQ4 into my 96 in place of a 5.7. It seems fairly straightforward when using the stock LS wiring harness and PCM (i've seen how to strip down the obs harness and then make the LS a standalone and integrate) That was fine and good, then Holley released the Terminator X, now i'm thinking of going that way.

Going 6L look for a k2500 in the yards that was hooked to a 6.0 for the nv4500. For an LQ9 I think you are looking for Escalade or Denali donars. Well its time for the old and leaky 350 to be pulled. Not interested in swapping trans to nv4500. For what the truck is used for I'm not terribly worried about it breaking and if it does ill put another 3500 in it or rebuild mine. I don't beat the truck like i used to just looking to restore and build a good street, light off road truck, still running 4.56 and 35s on a 6" lift.

The oil pressure gauge and coolant temp will reuse the existing sensors/wiring you will just need adapters for the 6.0 threads/ports. Speedometer should be one wire output from the 6.0 ecm that connects to one wire from the DRAC box behind the glove box (may have to adjust output from the 6.0 ecm).A lot of people say to use the 1" set back motor mount adapter plates.
